I saw your light shine first in your mother's eyes
She gave you life, lots of kisses and always answered your cries.
Little did I know how special you would be,
As you spent your early puppy hood dancing at my knee.
Your new family was sure a fine companion you would be,
And in true boxer spirit your loved provided great therapy.
You loved your new family, especially Mary Francis,
For her you always did your best heart dances.
Your heart was not perfect by anatomy's design,
But it's capacity for love and give devotion truly did shine.
One fateful day Mary Francis took a fall,
And you pushed the phone to her so she could make a call.
Had you not been there she would have laid in agony,
But you saw to it that your friend was set free.
Although you tried very hard for that illusive CD, it was not to be,
But, Lucky, you were always a champion to Billie Jean, Rozetta and me.
Some dogs have fancy certificates to declare their fame,
You my Dear Lucky stated it simply in your name.
You were a special gift from God, A Promised Deal for us all,
And in the end you answered our savior with that perfect recall.
We shall miss you our "Lucky Duck " more than we can bare,
But in our hearts we know you'll always be there.
As you left our world I know your Mama was there,
Licking your face and Dancing in air.
Your special Love now flows in heaven, like a warm spring rain
and I pray that God's Grace will let us all meet again.
All my love,
Grannie Annie
