In May of Nineteen hundred and ninety-three
Your Mama Sadie said to me
I’ve taken a fancy to a real heart stealer
And so we drove to visit this handsome dog named “Dealer”
In July of 1993 you, your brother and sister came to me
Who knew what the next 12 years would be
You were reluctant to appear, and a c-section just in the nick of time
Brought you into my life for your soul to shine
What can I say about a girl like you
Spirited and loving through and through
Plain or “classic” as I prefer
You beauty was easy to concur
But alas there was a strike against you entering the ring
It wasn’t your lack of markings but a doubtful “mouth” thing
So at seven months I said goodby as you walked away
A little two year old, Kimberly’s home is where you went stay
You proved yourself a good companion for eight years or more
And then there you were walking back into my door
It seems your owners had decided they wanted no dogs in their life
So I gladly welcomed you home to avoid any strife
A Senior of authority you had become in your previous home
And you and your sister, Colleen, fought over sharing the throne
I lost your sister to her terrible infection
and a friend in Texas did an immediate intervention
You stayed away with her for a period to time
But your life and the responsibility of caring for you was always mine
Home you came again and my heart had forgiven
Your sister now guided us both from a place called heaven
You gave to me so much in your long life
You were my beloved Dollar’s very first “wife”
From that union came a son called “Cash”
And in the show ring he was a real smash
Another son, Wrapper, came along too
His spirit an absolute carbon copy of you
I always joked you would out live me
But as is often the case that could not be
A stroke took its toll along with old age
And once again I find myself feeling some rage
Why is it that we do everything we can
Mother nature always has an alternate plan?
Abba Dabba you were one of a kind
But I can look in your son’s eyes and your spirit I still find
Rest well old girl, you’ve earned a long rest
Just don’t rumble with Colleen and upset God’s nest
